Weekend Training

Saturday is looking good on the bike, overcast but pretty warm. Sunday could be a mixture of all sorts. If you want to get ready for our big Christmas Hamper Ride on December 14th you should get out on both days. Even throw in a few sprints to help you bring home the bacon the following week. Two big dates coming up in December are (1) Christmas Hamper Ride – Sat, Dec 14th (2) Kerry Training Camp – Fri, Dec 27th to Sun, Dec 29th. Both events will help add a bit of variety to your training this month. Official club training stops on Sunday, Dec 22nd = two weeks left.

Saturday Spin: meet at the Hotel at 9:00 (racing cyclists out at 8:00 from hotel)

Route: we are going to be taking on a hilly route with 5 climbs on it. If you are beginner cyclist, we advise you just to do one hill (Army Hill in Moneygall). It’s a shallow gradient and it’s pretty short so it will get you used to some hill work without killing you. The groups will split in Moneygall with Group 1 getting a nice head start up the climb. Depending on your climbing ability you can turn right on the descent for Toomevara or head over to Gortagarry and turn right there. Each group should wait for each other at the top of the climbs. After we get back to Toomevara we advise everyone to head over to Dolla before heading for home. The rest of the Nenagh CC cyclists know this route well so take whatever short cuts you need to get through it.

Sunday Spin: meet at Tescos at 8:00

Route: due to the possibility of some rain we will stick closer to town so as to give people the option of turning for home if they are too soft. There is 4 hours of cycling in this route for those that are tough enough. Food stop in Obama Plaza.
