Weekend Training

It’s back to being just a normal weekend, instead of 3 cycles it’s just 2 and it doesn’t even look like we will be getting 2 cycles in! Tomorrow looks like being a complete washout so we are making an early call on it and cancelling. Stick to the turbo and try your best to come out with us on the Sunday cycle instead. We are trying a new route on Sunday that we hope will entice more to give it a go. Plenty of options on a route that never takes you too far from home. Best of luck to the lads going to the Masters Cross Country on Sunday.

Saturday Spin: cancelled

Sunday Spin: meet at Tescos at 8:00am.

Route: with this new route we are trying to include some hills for the racing cyclists but also have a prolonged flat start for those that don’t quite fancy doing hills just yet. There is a 60km flat section followed by 25km of hills, then a food-stop and a flat final section. Our route takes us out the Limerick road to Daly’s Cross, then over to O’Brien’s Bridge and back to Birdhill. Groups will be formed with the racing lads going up the ramp, this can be done the first time going through Birdhill or on the group’s return. From there it’s back up Kilmastulla and a right turn at Roundhill – for some heading home to Nenagh from here will be plenty. The rest will head over to Dolla and then Killeen (both good turn for home points). The hills start with Killeen first, then over to Seáníns via Templederry. The groups cycle down to Gortagarry and up the back of Army Hill. Then it’s down to Moneygall and the food stop in Obama Plaza. There is nothing strenuous after the food stop but to get the mileage in we recommend going home via Dunkerrin, Cloughjordan and then Nenagh.
