Club Updates: 06/05/19

Club Updates: 06/05/19 It was a quiet weekend on the racing front for our cyclists with just two lads in action. There wasn’t much racing to choose from if you weren’t interested in the stage races that were on offer. We actually saw more of our members in running action this weekend at the Great Limerick Run and the results from that were very promising. With it being a bank holiday weekend and with favourable weather conditions we were able…

Nenagh Summer League 2019: Round 5

Nenagh Summer League 2019: Round 5 Normal service was resumed on Thursday night when, for the first time in this year’s league, the scratch group had caught the front groups roughly at the time / location we wanted it to happen. This allowed for a more tactical race with surges and stalls and breakaway attempts. This is where you learn how to win a race or how to just hang on in there with the big boys when the hammer…

Club Updates: 28/04/19

Club Updates: 28/04/19 The Never Ending Story continues. Keith Butler has once again managed to mess up his chance of getting promoted to the A3 category with a 9th place finish in Currow (top 8 to score). Keith only needs 1 point for promotion. We even had the bunting ready in town for his triumphant return, but no, we should have known he would fail again. Could someone in the A4 bunch please take pity on the man and let…

Weekend Cycling

Weekend Cycling There is the little matter of Storm Hannah to deal with this weekend. We are not sure just yet how much it might affect training/racing this weekend but fingers crossed it’s minimal. If there are changes to training we will as always notify you through our club viber account. Our racers have the choice of a flat (Currow) or hilly route (Deenside) to compete in. Even if you are not racing you will have a tough battle against…

Nenagh Summer League 2019: Round 4

Nenagh Summer League 2019: Round 4 The weather was looking pretty dodgy for this all day but it cleared nicely for the race itself, although it was a bit cooler than normal. We are now a quarter way through our Summer League and things still haven’t settled down in terms of getting the handicaps correct. The aim is for every group to come together at some point and then to practice proper racing, breaking etc. This just isn’t happening as…

Race Report: Seán Molloy – Rás Mumhan

Race Report: Seán Molloy – Rás Mumhan Seán has been in the club now for 2 years and has improved a lot in that time. He is an A2 cyclist and is used to mixing it with the big boys on the racing circuit. However, taking on the huge challenge that is Rás Mumhan was always going to be a big step up for him. Finishing Ireland’s toughest 4 Day Stage Race is not easy; not everyone is talented /…

Club Updates: 22/04/19

Club Updates: 22/04/19 That was a huge weekend for the club’s racing team. We had 14 club members racing in total but it is the quality of race that counts. Putting together a team that is talented enough to get through Rás Mumhan is not easy. The club have only done it twice in the past, so hat’s off to Mike, Tommy, James, Seán and Eamon for representing the club so well down in Kerry. Hopefully we can get a…

Weekend Cycling

Weekend Cycling It’s a big weekend for cycling in the club with our Nenagh CC Team racing in Rás Mumhan. Everyone is through the first stage safe and sound. There are still 3 hard stages to go so keep battling. We expect a decent crowd to head over to Ras an Laois this Sunday too, so all in all we might have 15+ riders in racing action. Club training continues as usual on Saturday and Sunday and you can view…

Nenagh Summer League 2019: Round 3

Nenagh Summer League 2019: Round 3 The third round of the Summer League went the exact same way as the second round with the scratch bunch once again failing to reel in the other bunches. It wasn’t for lack of trying but with only 5 brave enough to go in the scratch group and all the usual heavy hitters resting up for the weekend’s stage races, it was always going to be a tough task to catch the big middle…

Club Updates: 15/04/19

Club Updates: 15/04/19 Bad weekend weather resulted in fewer club members than normal racing this weekend, with just 2 cycling racing and 3 lads at running races. The weather also resulted in our Sunday spin being cancelled. On a positive note James Skehan got himself into the points down in Blarney with a 7th place finish. We also had a great Saturday club cycle with 17 out on the bike and we had another successful running of our Summer League.…
