Club Updates: 12/01/20

Club Updates: 12/01/20 It was another weather affected weekend, with high winds and rain causing the cancellation of the Saturday spin. Things were better for Sunday although it was still a bit wet and cold at the start. We weren’t long warming up once the groups split. There were 14 on the road but just 5 made it the whole way round. That’s what happens when the route is close to home! Come the racing season, those 5 lads will…

Weekend Training

Weekend Training As of now, the Saturday spin is looking dodgy. Strong winds and rain are forecast so expect a call in the morning whether of not this session goes ahead. If it does, we will do a lap course where we can turn for home early if things get too bad. Thankfully Sunday looks a lot better so that might be the better day to target coming out with the club. Saturday Spin: meet at the Hotel at 9:00…

Club Training: 05/01/20

Club Training: 05/01/20 The first weekend of training in this new decade is over. It felt like a bit of a hangover weekend after the hols but it’s good to be back out and things will only get better. The days will get longer, the weather will improve, the weight fill fall off, and fitness levels will eventually peak. There is much to be positive about. Turnouts for the spins on the weekend were decent but could be better 16…

Club Training: 03/01/19

Club Training: 03/01/19 Happy New Year to all our club members. 2020 training kicks off this weekend with two big cycles on Saturday and Sunday. January is a time to start getting focused. The racing season draws ever closer so it’s time to banish the excuses and just get out on your bike consistently. Make a New Year’s Resolution to get out cycling with the club every week and you will see the benefits. At the end of the month…

Club Training: 20/12/19

Club Training: 20/12/19 This is the final weekend of club cycling for 2019. We resume again on Saturday, January 4th. You can take the two weeks off and put the feet up or use the extra time to bump up your training hours. With it looking likely that we will be entering a Rás team (we already have 5 training for it) you can be sure that there will be a bunch of lads out training every day. Check out…

Club Training: 15/12/19

Club Training: 15/12/19 A miserable, cold weekend led to the cancellation of both club cycles including our Christmas Hamper Ride. We will likely make our first Winter Warrior cycle in January a hamper ride so stay tuned for details about that. 15 riders did turn up on Saturday morning but with freezing temps and hail showers right up to 10:30, 5 of those abandoned. The rest decided to wrap up warm and do the route anyway. Icy roads led to…

Weekend Training

Weekend Training We have an action packed weekend coming up for you. Provided the weather plays ball, we will have our Christmas Hamper Ride on Saturday. At the moment, it looks good, a little bit cold but sure you won’t be long warming up! Handicaps will range from scratch to +20 mins for the leisure group. That will give all group s a chance of winning a hamper. The leisure group should be ready to go at 10:20 at Lisboney…

Club Training: 08/12/19

Club Training: 08/12/19 Another weekend, another storm. Dealing with the winter weather sure makes it a lot more difficult to train consistently. At times, you really need to be super motivated to keep going. There was a good crowd of 17 out on Saturday but few ventured out into Storm Atiyah on Sunday. When the weather is so unreliable it makes committing to weekly turbo sessions all the more important. At least that will keep some consistency in your training…

Weekend Training

Weekend Training Saturday is looking good on the bike, overcast but pretty warm. Sunday could be a mixture of all sorts. If you want to get ready for our big Christmas Hamper Ride on December 14th you should get out on both days. Even throw in a few sprints to help you bring home the bacon the following week. Two big dates coming up in December are (1) Christmas Hamper Ride – Sat, Dec 14th (2) Kerry Training Camp –…

Club Updates: 01/12/19

Club Updates: 01/12/19 Let’s hope today’s freezing temps aren’t a sign of things to come for December. We are in the final month of the year before dreams start anew for 2020. December is a busy month for many so get out when you can. We will be penciling in a big 2 week block of training for the end of the month so that should help kick start your training. It’s likely we will be heading to Kerry or…
