Club Updates: 19/01/20
Not for the first time this weekend was a disaster for cycling due to the weather. Freezing conditions meant that the official club cycles were either delayed or called off. Most club members opted to head out by themselves later in the day once the roads had thawed. Small groups did manage to get in a Roscrea cycle on Saturday and a lake cycle on Sunday but a change in weather would certainly be welcome. Nobody said winter training was going to be easy!
- Monday: Circuit Training with Bertie – GAA complex at 7:00pm
- Mid-week turbos: sessions are arranged through Viber.
- Thursday: running speed set with the Tri Club at 7:00pm at Nenagh College.
- Saturday: WW2 – Nenagh, Roscrea, Nenagh. First group off at 10:30
- Sunday: long distance club cycle – 8:00 at Tescos.
- Run sessions: early morning 6:00am, Mon, Wed, Fri from the library.
Insurance: Cycling Ireland membership is compulsory in the club. It expired for everyone at the end of the year so make sure to renew your license asap.Thanks.
Run Racing: Eoin Woolley keeps racking up the race appearances. He was spotted at the Ballyhoura Moonlight Marathon. Running mountains at night isn’t exactly my ideal night out but Eoin enjoyed it and finished in 4.5 hours. He followed that up with a Parkrun the next day and an appearance at the Castleconnell 10km road race.
Club Gear: an order will be going in very soon so try to work out what you need for the season and get purchasing.
Winter Warrior 2: this club ride is coming up this Saturday, January 25th. The route will be the same as that used for the Christmas Hamper Ride – Nenagh, Roscrea, Nenagh. As the Hamper Ride didn’t go ahead, the hampers are there to be won at this next event. They will make for a nice, late Christmas present.
