Club Training: 05/01/20

The first weekend of training in this new decade is over. It felt like a bit of a hangover weekend after the hols but it’s good to be back out and things will only get better. The days will get longer, the weather will improve, the weight fill fall off, and fitness levels will eventually peak. There is much to be positive about. Turnouts for the spins on the weekend were decent but could be better 16 out on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. A lot of sickness going around the club at the moment, so hopefully everyone gets better soon. For those thinking about racing, you have about 9 weeks before the season kicks off so time to start getting serious. Take a look at the CI calendar and plot out your season. For those sticking to leisure cycling, put your name down for our Pyrenees trip. It’s a tough one but it will keep you focused for the next 6 months.

Training

  • Monday: Circuit Training with Bertie – GAA complex at 7:00pm
  • Mid-week turbos: sessions are arranged through Viber.
  • Thursday: running speed set with the Tri Club at 7:00pm at Nenagh College.
  • Saturday: main club spin – 9:00 at the Hotel
  • Sunday: long distance club cycle – 8:00 at Tescos.
  • Run sessions: early morning 6:00am, Mon, Wed, Fri from the library.

Insurance: Cycling Ireland membership is compulsory in the club. It expired for everyone at the end of the year so make sure to renew your license asap.Thanks.

Club Gear: an order will be going in very soon so try to work out what you need for the season and get purchasing.

Weekend Training: the weather was a bit overcast and drizzly this weekend. Not ideal but not enough to cancel the rides. On Saturday we did the Dolla route and on Sunday we did the Templemore route. People did what they could and turned for home. The quality of the photos below is much better than the quality of the cycling on show – things can only get better!
