Club Updates: 10/03/20

Club Updates: 10/03/20 The racing season got underway last weekend with races in Meath and Kerry. It was a very successful start for the club with 2 wins to celebrate and a couple of ‘almost in the points’ performances. A big winter of training is paying benefit now. 5 months of turbo and storms could turn anyone away from the bike but if you knuckle down, stop feeling sorry for yourself and get through it then you will race well.…

Club Updates: 02/03/20

Club Updates: 02/03/20 The latest storm blew through last weekend resulting in WW4 being switched to the Sunday instead. That meant there was no ordinary club cycle for club members, just a tough ‘race’ in bad conditions for the few that were willing to brave it. Now, after 5 months of off-season training the racing season is about to start. There are races on Saturday and Sunday to look forward to this weekend. If the weather stays decent then get…

Club Updates: 24/02/20

Club Updates: 22/02/20 For once we got a bit of luck with our weekend cycles. It rained all week but cleared up for a little on both weekend mornings allowing us to get some much needed work done. We hosted a ‘last minute’ WW3 which proved to be another great cycle, with plenty of lads in the club cycling well. Unfortunately the planned Galway Reliability Spin was called off so we just did our own thing on Sunday. Only 2…

Club Updates: 10/02/20

Club Updates: 10/02/20 Storm Ciara forced the cancellation of our Sunday cycle but at least we got a good one in on Saturday. It was still very windy on the hilly route on Saturday so we were understandably very tired after it. Perhaps it wasn’t a bad thing getting a rest the day after. We have a big weekend coming up with the running of WW3 on Saturday. It kicks off at 10:30 so let’s hope for some decent weather…

Weekend Training

Weekend Training It’s another dodgy weekend for training. It’s hard not to see us all on turbos at some stage. Storm Ciara is coming over the weekend. We will probably be fine on Saturday morning with just a stiff breeze to deal with but Sunday is not looking good at all. Bit early to call things now but keep an eye out for updates. Just a reminder to make sure to place a gear order with us before Sunday, 16th…

Club Updates: 02/02/20

Club Updates: 02/02/20 Some decent weather for once allowed us to get in some quality cycles over the weekend. We had decent numbers out and there was good banter on the bikes. The quality of the cycling in the racing group is excellent at the moment with the lads training hard and looking forward to a big season of racing. We would expect decent numbers at the races this year. When club members are targeting big things it is a…

Weekend Training

Weekend Training We are back to normal club cycles this weekend. The weather for Saturday looks decent so for the 3rd time of asking we will try to do the Wheelers Race Route. Things are looking a little bit wetter for Sunday so we might stay on a more local route. These are our first February cycles, only a few years ago the racing season would be just about to start, now you have a few extra weeks to get…

Club Updates: 27/01/20

Club Updates: 27/01/20 We are heading into February and with that we are just 1 month away from the start of the season. 4 weekends of cycling is all you have left to get ready. The adventure racing and triathlon seasons aren’t that far off either. Expect the intensity of training to increase and there will also be two more winter warriors to look forward to. On the racing front we had some of our runners in action, with the…

Club Updates: 19/01/20

Club Updates: 19/01/20 Not for the first time this weekend was a disaster for cycling due to the weather. Freezing conditions meant that the official club cycles were either delayed or called off. Most club members opted to head out by themselves later in the day once the roads had thawed. Small groups did manage to get in a Roscrea cycle on Saturday and a lake cycle on Sunday but a change in weather would certainly be welcome. Nobody said…

Weekend Training

Weekend Training It looks like being a dry but cold weekend. Highly likely that both cycles will go ahead, but there may be a slight delay in the start time if there is frost out so pay attention to the Viber / Facebook. The racing season inches ever closer so come out and test yourself over the two days. The following weekend is the Winter Warrior so use this weekend to get up to speed. On Saturday we are doing…
