Nenagh CC: Updates – 17/06/18

Nenagh CC: Updates – 17/06/18 The rain returned this weekend; after weeks of giving out about it being too hot, we certainly missed the sunshine when it was gone. I will probably have to go wash my bike now again after that. I thought I was finished with having to clean my bike for the summer! We had 8 members in racing action in races in Clare, Mayo and Meath and Will Killackey did the business for the club with…

Summer League 2018: Round 11

Summer League 2018: Round 11 It’s getting a bit ridiculous at this stage, the ease at which Aichlinn O’Reilly is winning these summer league races. Aggression combined with huge power means if you don’t shut down his break straight away he is probably going to go solo to the line from any distance out. There was little the large racing crowd could do to stop him this evening as he took another fine win some 16 seconds ahead of the…

Nenagh CC: Updates – 10/06/18

Nenagh CC: Updates – 10/06/18 It was a very busy week on the racing front with club members attending 6 different races in Roscommon, Kildare, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway and Clare; that is not to mention the Summer League races that we all attend too. All this racing is really boosting the standard in the club and we are starting to build a very strong team. We would hope for some big results during the rest of the year and hopefully…

Nenagh CC: Updates – 03/06/18

Nenagh CC: Updates – 03/06/18 The club had our biggest ever turnout for an open race this weekend at the Raparee Cup in Dundrum. We had 14 club members taking part and we managed to bring home some points with us in what proved to be a tough race. That wasn’t the only prize we heard of this week as Seán Molloy got himself into the prizes at the Greenmount Limerick Racecourse Criterium and we also learned that Jurgen gained…

Weekend Cycling

Weekend Cycling It’s a Bank Holiday Weekend and so that means we get one extra day of fun on the bike. We expect to have a good crowd racing the Raparee Cup in Dundrum tomorrow evening. There is a joint A1/A2 race and a joint A3/A4 race so we would hope to able to get some points from our trip south. Rumours of a club night out after the race (or perhaps the following day) are circulating like wildfire on…

Summer League 2018: Round 9

Summer League 2018: Round 9 The second half of our Summer League commenced with another cracker of a race. Average speeds of the scratch bunch were very high again as the effort levels needed to reel in each group were huge. It is great to see the fitness levels and speed of the first bunch improving so quickly. Even with a smaller handicap this week, it wasn’t until the final climb of Ballyhane that Group 1 were swallowed up. No…

Nenagh CC Updates 27/05/18

Nenagh CC: Updates – 27/05/18 This weekend could prove to be one of the most important weekend’s we have had in quite some time. Not because of something we did, but because of something we are now planning to do in the future. Talks have been held about the possibility of putting in a Rás team and Rás na mBan team in 2019. This is something we have never done before but we feel that we have the talent and…

Weekend Cycling

Weekend Cycling Our weekend of cycling kicks off as usual with a sneaky little Friday session at 5:00 at Stereame. This has morphed into a coffee stop spin / leg warmer upper before the real weekend cycles on Saturday and Sunday. With the sun shining bright today, why not come out and join us if you finish work early?! On the racing front we have a decent crowd heading down to Clonmel on Sunday for the 2 stage race. If…

Summer League 2018: Round 8

Summer League 2018: Round 8 We are halfway through our Summer League for 2018 and the standard just keeps getting better and better. The handicaps were a little bit too generous given the size of the 3 bunches on the course. The large 2nd group, of almost 20 riders, worked very well together and the scratch group had to work as hard as possible, almost to the finish line, to catch them. A record pace of almost 44km/hr for the…
